Potential failure of equipment can be detected from particles found in oil samples. The analysis of the oil is conducted by three tests. The first test is the oil’s ability to lubricate and properly protect, the second test is for six wear metals and the third test is for three contaminants. This service is included with all marine surveys.
The Marine Surveyor comes to your boat and takes samples of oil from engines, transmissions and generators. The detailed Oil Analysis Reports are ready by the next day measuring metal wear and contaminants in parts per million. The report will help determine any abnormal metal wear of pistons, rings and cylinders and if contaminants like fuel, coolant, raw water or dirt are present that shorten the life of engines, transmissions and generators.
